The BKK Landfill is located in the City of West Covina, California. The site originally consisted of approximately 583 acres of rural land. The site is now Class I and Class III landfills of 190 and 160 acres.
A large group of responsible parties (RPs) is funding investigations and assessments for the closure of the Class I landfill. These response actions include performing “Essential Activities” at the Class I landfill, an Engineering Evaluation/Cost Analysis (“EE/CA”) of the systems at the Class I landfill, and a Remedial Investigation/ Feasibility Study (“RI/FS”) of groundwater contamination. Together, the EE/CA and RI/FS will detail the cleanup objectives and recommend a final set of response actions. Verdantas (formerly Project Navigator, Ltd.) performed as the RP group’s lead project manager, contractor oversight PM, and DTSC technical interface.
