Chief Technical Officer

Pete Sorge serves as the Chief Technical Officer at Verdantas, where he is committed to empowering technical professionals and shaping a culture defined by quality, innovation, and collaboration. Pete leads Verdantas' Technical Practice Groups, driving excellence and fostering growth within the organization. His passion for leveraging technology to enhance efficiency, deliver superior project outcomes, and enrich the professional experience distinguishes his approach to leadership. 

Before joining Verdantas, Pete held a series of progressive leadership roles at JM Sorge Environmental, including Scientist, Project Manager, Senior Project Manager, and ultimately, President. Under his guidance, the firm achieved growth in scale and capabilities while maintaining strong profitability. In 2022, after consultation with stakeholders, Pete spearheaded the successful merger of JM Sorge into Verdantas, aligning the firm with a private equity-backed, sustainability-focused platform for environmental and engineering services. 

Pete is a Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP) and a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM). In addition to his leadership responsibilities, he actively consults on complex environmental assessment, investigation, remediation, and compliance matters for both private and public sector clients. Pete’s dedication to professional development and his collaborative approach make him a trusted advisor and an inspiring mentor within Verdantas and the broader industry. 

Outside of his professional responsibilities, Pete pursues running and cycling, frequently exploring nature with his wife, two children, and family dog. He is currently raising a puppy intended to become a guide dog for an individual with a disability. Pete consistently approaches each day with curiosity, composure, and a strong commitment to service.
