After years of growth and development, the City of Alexandria determined that they had outgrown their current government facility and made the decision to construct a new government campus to better serve the needs of the City and the community.
Verdantas provided professional services related to facility design and site master planning in connection with the future campus. When completed, this campus will hold the city administration and public safety buildings, public works facility, salt storage building, miscellaneous utility structures, and open municipal recreational spaces.
The facility planning study and master planning work involved the development of the building and site program requirements and conceptual layout of the site based on the program of requirements.
Design work for this $43 million campus includes a new 45,000 sq ft administration and safety services building with an adjacent community center, a police vehicle garage, a flagpole plaza, and surrounding landscaping.
This project benefited from using the Construction Manager at Risk method, which established a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP). This will help the project budget during construction, which began early 2024 and will continue through May 2026.
Keep up with this project at the city website.
