Verdantas (formerly MHM) provided design engineering services for the relocation of Pump Station No. 3 as part of a setback levee project along the Feather River within the Sacramento River Flood Control System. Owned and operated by Reclamation District No. 784, the existing pump station served the surrounding reclamation district and played a critical role in regional drainage and flood control operations. As levee improvements progressed, the pump station required relocation and modernization to maintain reliable system performance while integrating with the new flood control infrastructure.

Verdantas developed the plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) for the pump station relocation, coordinating the facility's design with the adjacent levee improvements. The project included thirty-inch discharge pipelines crossing the project levee, requiring careful integration with levee design criteria, hydraulic performance requirements, and flood control standards. All design elements were completed in compliance with, or exceeding, applicable U.S. Army Corps of Engineers standards, California State Reclamation Board Title 23 requirements, Hydraulic Institute standards, and the Uniform Building Code.

The relocated facility was designed to enhance operational reliability and support long-term drainage needs across the reclamation district. Improvements included a low-flow pump, backup generator, SCADA system, outfall structure, trash rack, and associated infrastructure typical of a regional flood control pump station. Verdantas also performed hydrology and hydraulics analyses to evaluate the effects of the setback levee geometry and properly size the pumping facilities to meet both current and future drainage demands.

By combining pump station design expertise with flood control engineering and hydraulic analysis, Verdantas delivered a solution that supports the ongoing performance of critical drainage infrastructure while accommodating major levee improvements. The project helps strengthen regional flood resilience and ensures the continued protection of agricultural lands, infrastructure, and surrounding communities.
