Since 2011, Verdantas (formerly Colibri) has supported Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) in implementing the San Joaquin Valley Operations & Maintenance Habitat Conservation Plan (HCP), a comprehensive program that provides a framework for managing environmental impacts associated with utility operations and maintenance activities across nine California counties.

As a trusted environmental partner, Verdantas conducts biological pre-activity surveys to identify sensitive resources, evaluate potential impacts, and recommend effective avoidance and minimization measures. The team also delivers environmental awareness training for field crews, monitors activities for regulatory compliance, and performs post-construction reviews to document impacts and support mitigation requirements.

Beyond field services, Verdantas has helped strengthen the HCP program itself. As part of the HCP Quality Management Plan, the team completed the program's first two audit studies, identified opportunities for process improvement, and developed A Guide to HCP Implementation for Biologists. This resource provides guidance on the habitat requirements and distribution of 65 covered species and supports consistent implementation of biological surveys, environmental training, and monitoring activities throughout the HCP area.
