Southern California Edison (SCE) delivers electricity to millions of customers across southern California, serving a diverse landscape that includes urban centers, rural communities, and environmentally sensitive habitats. Since 2015, Verdantas (formerly Colibri) has provided biological support services that help SCE maintain and improve critical energy infrastructure while minimizing impacts to natural resources.

Verdantas supports a wide range of utility programs and projects, including transmission upgrades, wildfire mitigation and post-fire recovery efforts, covered conductor installations, substation improvements, habitat restoration initiatives, hydroelectric operations, and undergrounding of distribution lines. Services include biological desktop reviews, special-status species surveys, wetland and waters delineations, nesting bird surveys, and biological compliance monitoring.

By integrating biological expertise throughout project planning and construction, Verdantas helps identify sensitive resources early, recommend avoidance and minimization measures, and support environmental compliance across SCE's extensive service territory.
